This photo was taken along a back country road in the south of Vermont, just up the road from the Jamaica School, not far from the Jamaica State Park. I visited relatives in October 1995 to photograph the fall colors. The colors were magnificent, but the weather was uncooperative. In spite of gloomy skies and drizzling mists, I still managed to get a few memorable images.
I took this photo at Rainbow Falls at the Devils Postpile National Monument. This park is in the Eastern Sierras, just to the west of Mammoth Lakes. It was a 45 minute drive, and then another 45 minutes hiking to get to the falls. It was at the end of Aug ust 1995, and we arrived at the falls around 11:00AM. The light was just beginning to strike the falling water when we arrived. The lighting would have been 100% better if we had arrived a couple of hours later. Next time I will be sure to get there durin g the mid-afternoon for more pleasing light.
This photo was taken during the California Airshow at the Salinas Airport, in September of 1995. This is an image of the US Air Force Thunderbirds streaking across show central. This photo was taken with a Sigma 400 mm telephoto, hand held.
